We were delighted to once again be appointed the Official Clothing Supplier to the 3 Irish Open by The European Tour which took place in the Killarney Golf & Fishing Club, Co. Kerry over the August bank holiday weekend. As official clothing suppliers we provided branded uniforms for all of the marshals, scoreboard staff and championship staff working at the event.

For the event officials we made special one-off Irish Open jackets. The vibrant blue and green colours we used looked really striking on the course. The jackets were windproof and waterproof and had knitted inner collars and cuffs to keep the wearer lovely and snug! Although, we’re glad to report that most officials actually got to make use of the removable sleeves instead and could be seen sporting the gillet version in the sunshine for a couple of days!

A number of the Kartel team made the trip to Killarney to work on our retail unit in the tented village at the event where we sold branded merchandise. We had a fantastic week and it was wonderful to meet all of the fans who had travelled from all over Ireland, and even all over the world, to watch big names like Padraig Harrington, Rory McIlroy, Darren Clarke, Graeme McDowell, Ross Fisher, Paul McGinley and Francesco Molinari to name but a few. After a long day’s work the team had a chance to grab a bite to eat and soak up the atmosphere of the Killarney Summerfest which was in full swing in the town. Hundreds of people thronged the town’s streets to watch street performers including magicians, puppeteers, jugglers, comedians, circus acts, samba dancers, and traditional Irish music and set dancing. Killarney definitely gets the thumbs up from the Kartel team as a fantastic place to visit for a summer break in Ireland!
