Leading Irish menswear label, Kartel has launched its Spring/Summer 2011 collection. Precise detailing and improved product engineering epitomise the new collection. The range focuses on subtly styled detailing, achieved through splashes of colour in the stitchwork, and contrasting fabric designs and colour on trims. The collection provides a washed and worn-in men’s wardrobe featuring four colour stories that intertwine and work together.
This season’s fresh colour palettes are ‘Coastline,’ ‘Sandwashed Sensitives,’ ‘New Greens’ and ‘New Saturated Classics.’ Strong nautical red, blue and white are supplemented by relaxed, dusky tones such as desert rose and pops of colour like the zingy snapdragon yellow.
The Coastline colour palette is core to the collection with oceanic shades of blue and green such as ‘fairweather,’ ‘pool,’ ‘oasis,’ ‘navy’ and ‘french blue’ contrasted with strong ‘cardinal red’ and white.
Allied to the nautical colours is the Sandwashed Sensitives colour palette, where core reds, blues and greens are softened to cooler, muted shades such as ‘desert rose,’ ‘mist’ and ‘placid.’
The New Greens colour palette adds additional splashes of colour with lively tones synonymous with the green shoots and daffodil yellow of Spring. Vibrant ‘snapdragon’ yellow sits alongside fresh ‘fern,’ ‘eucalyptus’ and ‘bayleaf’ green.
Finally, the New Saturated Classics story provides natural bases on which to build such as ‘stone,’ ‘beige,’ ‘khaki’ ‘mocha’ and ‘silver.’ These are offset with subtle ‘lavender’ and ‘mauve.’
The collection includes poloshirts which this season have more adventurous stripe placement and colour options and colourful pima cotton knitwear. In woven shirts, checks sit alongside multi-tonal stripes with a peach finish, heavy wash herringbone stitching and contrast gingham detailing. Outerwear and denims complete the range.
Commenting on the launch of Kartel’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection, the brand’s Managing Director, Karl Swan, said, “Colour has always been our strength and we’ve continued our focus on providing a vivid colour offering again. We’ve built on that foundation this season however, by incorporating a new precision in the detailing of each garment. Woven shirts have added interest through the use of gingham on the under collar, inside cuff and collar vents, while block contrast colours on the under-collar of each poloshirt is picked up in the knitwear.”
“These touches of fine styling have allowed for greater crossover between each colour story in the collection, enabling them to work together with stronger effect than ever before.” he added.
