Padraig Harrington:

In 1996 Kartel signed an emerging Irish golfer, Padraig Harrington. Since then, our partnership has gone from strength to strength and we are delighted to have supported Padraig throughout his three Major wins. Padraig wears Kartel clothing and waterproofs at all tournaments that he plays and Kartel suits and jackets while off the course.

Career Highlights

Padraig Harrington is one of the world’s top golfers. Following a very successful amateur career, Padraig turned professional in September 1995. In 1998 Padraig won the Irish PGA Championship and the following year he fulfilled one of his career ambitions – representing Europe in the Ryder Cup. To date, Padraig has had six appearances in the Ryder Cup. In 2007 Padraig finally realised his Major dreams. He was successful at the Irish PGA Championship at the European Club before breaking through to win the Open Championship at one of his favourite courses, Carnoustie Links. He was the first European to win a Major since Paul Lawrie in 1999 and the first Irishman to win the Open since Fred Daly in 1947.

2008 proved to be a year of spectacular success for Padraig with two Major wins. Padraig successfully defended his Open Championship in style at Royal Birkdale and then followed up with a spectacular win in the USPGA Championship, when he was the first European to win since 1930. To top off a truly remarkable year for Padraig, he was then awarded the PGA Player of the Year award and reached a career high of 3rd in the world rankings.
